351-Archive Launches

Greetings from #rdcHQ! We are pleased to announce the launch of 351-Archive, (a.k.a. Port Orford Historical Photos). At present, we are releasing over 1000 images into the public domain from the collection of Alan Mitchell.

Many of these works are high-resolution imagery and can be reused, remixed and recycled in new creative works as they are being published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

Here is a sampling from the Aerials collection —

We are working to improve the current collection, including creating better scans where possible and adding metadata, geotags and photo credits to the images. We’ll also be adding new features to the site as outlined on our current development road map. If you would like to participate and have items or information to add to our collection, please do!

We’ll have more news regarding this exciting new project, however for now enjoy your trip down memory lane in historic Port Orford, Oregon courtesy of Port Orford Historical PhotosStay Tuned!

Lightmapping Success!

Greetings from #rdcHQ! We are pleased to announce that things have been moving right along in our infrastructure track at The All New #rdcHQ. We now have fully outfitted our street level gallery with Internet-enabled LED bulbs just in time for our Fall Art Show, [ˈɡeːɡənʃaɪn], a.k.a. “Gegenschein” or “countershine”. In addition to creating amazing art, we’ll be conducting various light experiments throughout the course of our first ever “Work in Progress Art Exhibit” and we will report our findings here. We have an exciting line-up of artists and we’ll be adding new works and featured artists over the course of the exhibit.

It’s hard to believe that just one year ago we moved into our new digs at 351 6th Street. It has been an eventful year full of interesting projects and fascinating art. It hasn’t been without setbacks – but now we’re moving right along into the next exciting new phase of development. Stay tuned for announcements surrounding the show via Point.B Studio and The All New #rdcHQ!

Cobwebs Open Lab Scenes

Brainstorming at #rdcHQ.

The Cobwebs Crew is in the final stretch of preparing the website and Part Three of the “Cobwebs” movie for its first public screening. The next two weeks will be super busy with preparations for the site launch, movie screening and art show. During the meetups, everyone helps each other out and teaches each other what they have learned. Building your own creation together from the ground up is a great way to discover new tools and technologies and learn how to work as a design team. Here are a few scenes from this weekend’s meetup showing The Cobwebs Crew in action.

RasPi Model B+ DIY Case

More Extra Credit from #rdcHQ! More fun stuff from the Cobwebs Open Lab – Mentor Jerry McManus created a very cool case for the Raspberry Pi Model B+ using a paper template and the original packaging. The template is based on the original Model B punnet template case by “E” available at raspberrypi.org. Below is the template as a PDF so anyone can download and print their own.
