server closetGreetings from #rdcHQ! We are officially in winter hibernation mode, however the Cobwebs Crew is beginning winter meetups in the new Media Lab at Rural Design Collective Headquarters! BIG Update from #rdcHQ

Hello! It’s been awhile since our last update – we have been busy getting set up in our new headquarters and wrapping up post-production on the summer program. In our “Codes of the World” track, we delivered the fruits of our labors from our “Standard Sprints” with new art for New Zealand, South Africa and the British Standard. For those following our work on this track, you may be interested in a current Kickstarter campaign aimed at supporting future development on safety standards which explains the project in further depth. Mega-Congratulations to the Cobwebs Crew!

The really big news at #rdcHQ is that the Cobwebs Crew won “Best of Festival” in the “Student Videos” category at the Oregon Coast Film Festival last weekend! We are so proud of our award-winning animators and their work on Cobwebs – The Movie – Part One. Here are a few scenes of the crew accepting their award at the event.

The All New #rdcHQ! <3

Happy Labor Day from #rdcHQ! Very soon we will be posting photos and video from our annual Launch Party which was a huge success – however, we want to share our Really Big News that was announced at the event. Point.B Studio and Rural Design Collective Headquarters will be moving to a new location this month! It is a historic building right in the center of Port Orford, Oregon shown below via Google Street View (facing west, Pacific Ocean directly behind).

The new space has a rich history which we will be documenting soon. It was originally built in 1898 during the mining and logging era and is near the Port of Port Orford. This historic photo shows our new building as it appeared in 1925.

And here is another view facing north on Highway 101 from a vintage photograph.

Taken before our pitched roof was added, our building is obscured by others in the foreground.

We are all very excited at #rdcHQ and are looking forward to many more years of incredible art, summer programs and groundbreaking projects in our new space!

#rdcHQ 2013 Launch Party!

The Rural Design Collective will host their annual Launch Party over Labor Day Weekend. Throughout the weekend there will be live music, a web site launch, original art and a public screening of the new work by the “Cobwebs Crew” created during the 2013 Summer Program. The Rural Design Collective and the Cobwebs Crew will be on-site at RDC Headquarters (Point.B Studio) to provide demonstrations of their work on August 31 from 2-5 PM (during the Port Orford Art Walk).

Point.B Studio’s annual art show has been postponed due to some really big news we will be announcing at the event … stay tuned! :-)
