June and the months prior was all about the arrival of Spring wildflowers as well as our dedicated docents. We came up with a game plan for weather readings and routine cleaning and maintenance. The rain persisted at first but set the stage for an incredible summer.
I took a quick pic but clearly I was intruding on H. rustica’s morning ☕️

🌞 Today was an incredibly beautiful day with minimal wind and a cloud cover burning off in the late afternoon to reveal one of the most fabulous days this season at our lighthouse. There is nothing quite as special as a day like this! We hope to see you this Summer ⎈⎈⎈

🌬️ Our volunteers are equipped with handheld anemometers to gauge wind speed at the gate and the lighthouse (the terrain along the road to the lighthouse is protected in spots so wind measurements vary along the way). ⎈⎈⎈

⛅️ There has been a break in the weather. The rain has stopped and the winds are down to 10-15mph. Photo of Cape Blanco Headland, North Side. A lovely stretch on the sheltered side of the Cape near where the lighthousekeepers and their families once kept a garden. ⎈⎈⎈

THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS! It was a foggy day at Cape Blanco but that didn’t keep our docents from heading out for orientation to prepare for Opening Day on May 1 at the Lighthouse. ⎈⎈⎈
