The Cape Blanco Weather Station Archive 🌞

Another great season out at Cape Blanco with a fabulous crew of volunteers and new additions to our Cape Blanco Weather Project, including a new anemometer and a vintage cyanometer. One highlight of the season was our year-long "Save Our Lighthouse" exhibit which was fundamental in raising awareness of our situation at Cape Blanco. We also had a special guest visit from the USLHS to capture our most westerly lighthouse against the night sky. Enjoy!

That sure was a rainstorm last night followed by a beautiful day this morning. #17 Navigator Blue skies on the cyanometer and southerly winds. There should be more rain on its way later this afternoon, but for now it's lovely at the Cape Blanco Lighthouse.💡♥️

#102524

Brisk northerlies out at the Cape Blanco Lighthouse today and a lot of cloud action makes for spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Did you see the one this morning? Magnificent! #17 Navigator Blue on average on the cyanometer.

UPDATE KEEPERS LOG OCT. 21💡♥️ We did manage to catch that rainbow heading out to sea at day’s end.

#102224

Nearly an inch of rain was waiting for us in the rain gauge when we arrived at Cape Blanco today. And we were *this close* to capturing a rainbow over the lighthouse. Maybe we'll catch it tomorrow. Very light southerlies to start your week. Have a great Monday!

Another beautiful day at the lighthouse; a little warmer today with gentle northerly winds and wispy Cirrus clouds against Tidepool/Cobalt Blue (#24/25). A range of blue in our Pacific Northwest Sky today ranging from Cirrus (#8) to Blanco (#14). Gusts of 27 from the NNE. Conditions appear favorable for another northern lights display comparable to the one we had in May, however reliable weather sources are predicting cloud cover in our area during the viewing window.
