Salal (Gaultheria shallon) is currently in bloom along the coastal trail. Late summer/fall will bring the purplish/blue/black berries. A favorite treat of the birds at Cape Blanco.

The ocean of foxglove (D. purpurea) near the Hughes House is another lovely sight to see along Cape Blanco Road. Cape Blanco is a unique and endangered coastal prairie ecosystem that we treasure along with our beautiful historic lighthouse.

Did you know Cape Blanco is a unique and endangered ecosystem - the coastal prairie? We love our endangered lighthouse just as much as the beautiful natural area that surrounds it 💡❤ Both are coastal treasures.

A little rain certainly doesn't keep the photographers away and it brings a new wildflower every morning. Today's is the Field Chickweed (Cerastium arvense).
