The construction on the Hughes House is coming along and it appears that it will be late August before it will be completed. We will let everyone know the opening date once it is finalized. It sure is wonderful to see the preservation of our beautiful historic sites.

S. spathulifolium is our plant du jour today; it's the signature stonecrop of Cape Blanco and if you venture out on our trails now is the time to find it in bloom. Look for its silvery-blue foliage and bright yellow flowers.

And after a very vigorous and rousing week of wind, we begin our Wednesday with light air (Beaufort force 1) from the NNE: "Direction shown by smoke drift but not by wind vanes" as evidenced by our anemometer. The sky is filled with morning fog and a motionless Water Blue. It's 54°F and peaceful at the lighthouse. ⎈⎈⎈

WOW. It is W-I-N-D-Y out at Cape Blanco this morning! Technically we are at a moderate gale 🚩 (Beaufort force 7) however the anemometer had an overnight max gust reading of 49mph when we arrived so we are pretty close to a gale at this point. 🚩🚩 "Whole trees in motion; inconvenience felt when walking against the wind." Absolutely. ⎈⎈⎈
