The Cape Blanco Weather Station Archive 🌥

July was all about maintenance with the US Coast Guard coming to the rescue to install a new motor that turns the lamp in the tower after the old one expired. We also said goodbye to our tenants, the baby barn swallows, who inhabited nests at the Greeting Center Gift Shop the first part of the season.

Caretaker Darren Evans measures the wind at the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. At 8:57AM, It was 3-5mph average wind with 12mph gusts at the lighthouse and 14mph gusts (average 9mph) at the eroding bend in the lighthouse gate road at 9:07AM. Our lamp shines again today thanks to the team at USCG! 🌞
