Hooray! We’ve added our 86th file to our SVG Repository! This milestone is impressive given the complexity of many of the diagrams, and the level of detail and precision that Levi Thompson, our SVG Team Leader, strives for in every graphic. Folks familiar with Levi’s work (a.k.a. Fans of Levi) are familiar with his icon prowess, most notably his recent work on “Life on a Redwood Post” where he is creating pictograms for insect orders.
Levi moved into the Medium level, and we began building elements for our library to help with the production of the more advanced diagrams. We started by building repetitive patterns that represent elements in the chart and building illustrations:
We are delighted to see that our friends at Open Clip Art Library have a few applicable ones in their own collection:
We also noted that they are developing some graphic libraries of their own for Time-Speed-Distance symbols. We’re going to keep an eye on these developments to see if any of the art can be repurposed in our own work, and will make our own remixes available to Open Clip Art Library as well.
We also added a graphic to our SVG Library that will prove quite useful on many of the illustrations. At present, it is a line art illustration perfect for the project at hand. However, we will be creating individual graphics for each of the states for our permanent collection.
We will be adding more symbols and patterns to the library this week, and wrapping up work on another set of icons. Stay Tuned!
