September brought lovely hues of blue out to Cape Blanco as well as visitors from all over the globe to our most westerly lighthouse. Our exhibits featuring "The Lighthouse Keepers" at Cape Blanco was very well received and continues to spark interest in the rich and unique history of our area. It's a windy last day of September at Cape Blanco today, 20-25mph from the NNE and gusts of 29mph. #23 Cerulean Blue skies for miles and miles. It's the last day of the tour season out at our other two treasures, the Hughes House and the Port Orford Lifeboat Station.

We had an interesting read on our cyanometer today: #31 Nautical Twilight, a deep dusk, bluish sky. The term refers to sailors being able to take reliable navigational readings via well known stars (and planet positions) because the horizon was still visible, even under moonless conditions (Primary Source: NWS). We can potentially get this blue out at Cape Blanco at any hour of the day!

It's great to see the return of the NWS-grade anemometer installed earlier this year by our Oregon State Parks Rangers.
